Born of an ancient civilization, Cairo is a vast metropolis centered around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.
The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including finds from Tutankhamen's tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.
East is Islamic Cairo, home to the 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk (remember to haggle). The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.
If you need a break from cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.
Before heading to your Cairo accommodations, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

To see the best of Giza and Cairo we would definitely recommend a local guide and driver. They can navigate the busy road system there, and will know all of the best places to visit and eat. The only thing we would avoid next time is exchanging our money to Egyptian pounds... it is better to either use dollars or euros.

Cairo is a must see place, This hotel layout is nice with cottages, but rooms look old and bathrooms need a complete makeover, worn out look, tap in the tub had a leak. House keeping was not up to the mark as they forgot to place coffee and tea sachets. On requesting, it took 2 hours to reach the room. No mini refrigerator in the room. Needs more power plugs for charging devices. Something needs to be done for the mosquitos there after sunset. I stayed in Jaz group hotel in Cairo and Sharm. Both places need to revise their menu to add more international/asian stuff.

Cairo is notoriously chaotic, and has the traffic and noise issues to prove it. But still a splendid place to explore Egyptian history and culture, with iconic landmarks like the Pyramids of Giza and the Nile River. The Egyptian Museum is a must-visit destination when in Cairo, but needs more care and structure update, most of its archaeological treasures are just there displayed without proper care, it was a bit disappointed. The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is a new museum, covering all the different historical periods that encompass Egypt's history and is where the royal mummies are located now. Khan El Khalili Bazaar has a vibrant energy and is an important district for both cultural and economic activity, but be prepared to be harassed by the vendors who may follow you trying to convince to buy in his shop. You can’t go to Cairo and not see the Pyramids of Giza, it's a very popular destination and always busy. You can do it by yourself or hiring a guide. I walked around by myself and it was great since we did in our time and speed, also be prepare to be approached many times for camel or horse rides. Often referred to as the cradle of civilization, Cairo is a trip worth taking once.

The Chinese restaurants were top notch!
The hotels were alright.
The sights such as the Nile river and pyramids were breathtaking.
The special activities were spectacular!
We did:
-boat riding on the Nile (for 500 EGP)
-pyramid sightseeing (for 500 EGP each)
-horse carriage riding (for 200 EGP)
-camel riding (for 700 for 3 people)
Simple and uncomplicated guest house walking distance away from a wonder of the world.
They allow early check in if you communicate with them and will also arrange a taxi from Cairo Airport at an extra cost.
Rooms are small but clean, private bathroom, but don't expect 5 star hotel standards.
Host is helpful and there is a museum and gift shop downstairs.
Breakfast is served on the balcony from which you can look at the pyramids - that view is a winner, despite the poor state of adjacent buildings and the squalor of the area.
I chose KMT Hostel since I needed a cheap place to sleep for one night in Cairo. It's well located - I walked there from the bus station. There are restaurants nearby and the metro is close.
My bunk bed was comfortable and roomy, though I suspect the room gets crowded when all the beds are taken. The bunk has a personal plug, light and a shelf. Bathroom was clean with good showers.
I left early, so didn't try the breakfast. The hotel owner was my taxi driver to the airport, very easy.
The staff at Nile Guardian hotel were exceptionally good. They were extremely welcoming and made sure we were given the best treatment possible. The general Manager Ashraf, took care of all our needs. Also Miss Hannan and Sahar were so kind and made sure we had everything available during breakfast. Their tours are very budget friendly and accommodating as per our needs. They even called to check on us if we reached the airport safely. I wish them all the best and keep up the great work.
This is a good value, centrally located hotel in Cairo. It's old and some parts are undergoing renovation, but the rooms and breakfast area are in great shape and everything works. It's quiet at night and the wifi was fine. The staff are helpful and friendly, and arranged an airport transfer for us. Breakfast was good and alternated between European style and Egyptian style. It's about 10 minutes walk to several different Metro stations. Lots of restaurants and several ATMs nearby.
Location was convenient and close to airport by Uber. From hotel door to terminal 1 gate in Cairo International Airport, it took only 1 hour. The hotel looks good in photos and at quick glance.
The ballroom looked great. The hotel is more like a small resort with several restaurants in the same building.
Room was clean. Seems like a great place to have a party.
Note my experience is partially biased, comparison is towards hotels in Central and Nordics and East asian hotels.
Very good value for monry. Brand new hotel. Rooms like 5 stars design hotel.
Beds very comfortable. View from the pool and restaurant is breathtaking.
Food very good and tasty. Lots of fruits for breakfast. Smoothies amazing, burger as well.
Staff is so helpful. I left my passport on the airport late at night, they comforted me and called the airport in the morning. Staff is the best from front office to housekeeping and waiters.
Keep good job dear people.
It was one of the best hotels i have ever seen in Egypt, I really really enjoyed my time there, all the services are great and if I need anything they do it for me quickly, all the men staff are friendly with a big smile specially Abdullah or Mohammed at the breakfast buffet he prepared the tables and take care of us with a big smile, also Donia with Neama from cleaning service floor 37 were very kind. I LOVE THIS HOTEL AND ITS ATMOSPHERE

Here I would like to thanks all of the greatest staff members of the best hotel I have ever been in Egypt. Really our short trip to Cairo in that time we enjoyed our stay. I recommend this great hotel for everyone, also in my next visit to Cairo I will book this same one.
Our stay at the Sphinx golden gate pyramids hotel exceeded our expectations, this family run hotel attended to our needs promptly, gave good advice for excursions around Egypt and all came with a good energy and vibe. A very authentic Egyptian atmosphere with great food and very friendly staff. The rooftop was exceptional, with views of the pyramids. Would definitely recommend
I spent 2 nights at new midtown hotel , the place is very beautiful , staff are good , breakfast was very nice , the manager mahmoud hosted me well and he gave us a nice information about Egypt... the hotel is too close to the Egyptian museum , citadel..etc ... and downstairs the Have a lot of restaurants and cafe shops ...
The terrace enjoying the Giza view was beautiful. The breakfast was okay compared to what we ate in Egypt. Our tour guide, Muhammed Gaber, was a fantastic guide. He was truly the best thing that happened to us in Egypt. Our driver, Muhammed, was very respectful and polite. Some hotel staff members were friendly and helpful.
• Booking was smooth and fast
•Rooms are very clean and fully equipped
• Very quiet hotel
• Very close to pyramids
• best value for money
• very comfortable bed, Air conditioning is cold/hot
•it is Better to book a deluxe room
•Breakfast has a very good variety of Egyptian food
*Overall all excellent stay 9.5/10
We were looking for a hotel very near the airport as we had late night and early morning flights, and this hotel was just near to terminal 3 of the Cairo Airport. The Hotel had 5 restaurants which catered to all our needs. The staff were friendly . Overall we enjoyed the stay in this hotel
clean nice rooms. hot water. AC. staff are very friendly and helpful. location is good. close to airport and close to many restaurants and shops. hotel has security. 2 elevators. nice Indian restaurant and good roof top that service Egyptian food.
The view at breakfast is worth it. The best view of the pyramids. Thanks to that view, you will forget all the minuses of the hotel. The receptionist was very helpful and kind. Breakfast was very tasty by Egyptian standards.
Great experience staying at the this Hotel, and the view just didn't get boring.
The staff were the best part, all so friendly and accommodating, when I go back to Egypt I'll be sure to book this hotel again.
